This is an important insight and I appreciate that you took the time to share it. What you described in the Loire Valley is on steroids in the US. There is a raging war in the grocery industry in America that the consumer is generally oblivious to. Aldi is exploding on the grocery scene here, and Lidl is floundering. Aldi boasts about a tiny SKU count of less than 2000 items. Another fact you touch on is important. That relates to the indeference toward the consumer. I represent an advanced technology that captures customer experience and sentiment in an anonymous and frictionless manner and have learned that retail chains, in contrast to their claims about caring for their customers, actually could not care less what they think, because we lemmings just keep going over the cliff by tolerating their conduct.
