The most common reason they offer when I ask is that side effects resulted in another scrip being added to their drug cocktail to manage them. They have called getting on a statin as a “slippery slope” of more daily pills. I won the gene pool lottery and I am not on any meds of any kind. I believe pharmacology is a “miracle” and am not anti-drugs, but I will not agree to anything on doctor’s recommendation without thoroughly researching it first, and talking to my friends who may be using them. I am astounded how many of my friends take 12 or more meds every day. That may be more threatening to their health than what they are trying to treat.
